★ Early Adopter

I've always considered myself an early adopter. Today, you'll be hard pressed to find someone who doesn't know what an iPod is. Back in October 2002, people thought I was crazy buying a $300 mp3 player. I had my own website and started blogging back in 2001. I got a Gmail invitation back when people were PAYING for invites. I had a Flickr account before Yahoo bought them out. But there was always one tech toy I never caught on to....Tivo.

At first, I never saw the appeal of recording TV. I only watch a couple TV shows to begin with; The Simpsons, Family Guy, Late Night with Conan O'Brien and a couple other random shows. Why would anyone want to record TV shows? Then, I started working full time. Once I started working, I had no time to do the little things. I couldn't stay up past 12am to watch Conan. I can't catch all the Simpsons reruns because I'm always at the gym during those times. I'm always out on Thursdays so I can't catch The OC. Then a Tivo started looking really attractive.

So over the weekend, I bit the bullet and finally bought a Tivo. The one thing that got me to buy one was the fact that they were ending the lifetime subscription plan. I paid $299 to use my Tivo for as long as I keep my box, which is a deal in my book. I just started playing with it tonight so I still have to find out what it can do, but from what I've seen so far, I think it's an investment that is definitely worth it.
